Biden’s ‘Breakthrough’ Border Numbers Are Fake

What’s new: President Joe Biden’s administration is using misleading statistics to claim that America’s historic rates of illegal immigration have significantly dropped. Legacy media are parroting the lie, claiming Biden has achieved a “breakthrough” and that the disaster expected to come after Title 42’s end “hasn’t materialized.” Policy experts have debunked the narrative.

The real story: The Department of Homeland Security is systematically releasing illegal immigrants into the country through a mass parole program, a mobile app for scheduling appointments at the border, and so-called “lawful pathways” that ignore the government’s legal responsibility to keep unauthorized people out — in other words, unlawful pathways. But the DHS has redefined border “encounters” to only include those who haven’t been processed at certain points of entry, hence the deceitfully low numbers.

So what’s really happening? There were over 273,000 attempts to illegally cross the border in May. That's only a couple thousand less than April’s number, and almost 400,000 attempts are expected each month after. The government’s widespread use of parole to let migrants in is not normal; the law allows it “only on a case-by-case basis for urgent humanitarian reasons or significant public benefit.”
