CDC Worked With Big Tech To Censor Vaccine "Misinformation"

According to leaked internal communications, the CDC regularly coordinated with social media companies to censor users and content.

Beginning in late 2020, CDC officials communicated with Twitter, Facebook, and Google to combat vaccine “misinformation.” These chats were regularly planned and provided the CDC with an opportunity to call attention to information and specific posts that needed to be censored.

Facebook tuned its censorship algorithms with the CDC’s input. Ultimately though, the social media algorithms censored too much content, at one point even censoring official government public health messaging.

Why it matters: The CDC, through its coordination with private tech companies, was given the ability to censor Americans online. This is alarming for two reasons. For one, the federal government acted as a censor, and two, the CDC was consistently wrong about the pandemic.
