The Final Stages of Kanye West's Unraveling
The artist and supposed 2024 presidential candidate has doubled down on his antisemitic statements.
What happened: In an interview yesterday with Alex Jones, Kanye West, or Ye, expressed multiple times that he loves many things about Hitler, that people should stop disrespecting Nazis, and that “the Holocaust is not what happened.” (There have been reports for years from people who worked with Kanye that he idolized Hitler.) Jones tried to get Ye to retract the statements during the show, but the artist kept doubling down.
Following the interview, Ye went to Twitter to defend the recently controversial Balenciaga fashion company and tweeted a swastika within a Star of David. Elon Musk suspended Ye’s account, tweeting that Ye “again violated our rule against incitement to violence."
Why it matters: Ye is planning to run for president in 2024. He has posted now-deleted campaign videos attacking Donald Trump and, according to Ye’s adviser, brought a Holocaust-denier to dinner with Trump to deliberately cause a storm of negative press around the former president.
