The story
As a coin-flip presidential election approaches, the Biden administration is processing U.S. citizenship requests at the fastest rate in a decade. By 2023, a massive backlog of 2.5 million open immigration cases had accumulated due to President Biden’s border policies, which allowed an unprecedented influx of illegal migrants.
The flow of migrants through the U.S.-Mexico border has overwhelmed federal immigration courts nationwide, while over 1.5 million “gotaways” escaped into the country’s interior. Now, as the Biden administration rushes to naturalize migrants, many will be eligible to vote in the November election — and nearly 100 percent plan to do so, according to a new survey.
This surge of new voters and their participation, particularly in key battleground states like Georgia, Arizona, Nevada, and Pennsylvania, will irrevocably impact this election and the ones that follow.
In June, President Biden signed an executive order which could grant legal protections to half a million illegal migrants who have American spouses. The so-called “parole-in-place” program was one indicator that the administration wanted to quickly naturalize illegal migrants. An executive order just one month after Biden took office underscored that “promoting naturalization” has been a central objective from the beginning.
While not all new U.S. citizens entered illegally, millions who did now have an opportunity to be fast-tracked into becoming eligible voters.
Over the past year, American Hispanics were trending away from Biden and toward Trump. But if someone entered the country under Biden's administration and knows that Trump wants to deport him, it’s not difficult to infer who he might vote for.
The responses
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) is a leading voice in accusing the Democrat Party of importing new voters for its own purposes. He warns that President Biden’s party wants “to turn these folks into voters.” He explains that many migrants are directed to immediately seek welfare benefits.
At welfare offices, migrants have the option to check a box “if you are a US citizen and would like to vote.” According to Johnson, it is impossible to know how many are registering to vote without proof of citizenship because “under current law, states are prohibited from requesting proof that the box is checked correctly.”
Meanwhile, there is very little reporting from left-leaning media about the strategy behind Biden’s plan to create vast numbers of new voters who entered the country due to his policies.
The few media who do report on it recognize that President Biden wants to gain favor with newly naturalized migrants, but contend that his top priority is keeping families together. They downplay the notion that Democrats want to create an army of new voters for themselves, and point out that many of these migrants are already located in blue states.
Beyond the headlines
After years of allowing entry to millions of illegal migrants, the Biden administration made some efforts to clamp down — once its feet were held to the fire due to the chaos caused in America’s largest cities.
Biden finally collaborated with the Mexican government to prevent migrants from crossing the northern border, most likely to fend off escalating criticism directed at him and Kamala Harris. Mexico’s left-leaning government much prefers a Democrat in the White House than a Republican.
Biden used executive power to halt asylum processing at the southern border when illegal entries surpassed 2,500 per day, stemming the previous daily influx of approximately 4,000. Customs and Border Patrol now reports that daily crossings are below 1,900, a decline of over 50 percent.
However, the damage is done. Around 10 million illegal migrants entered under Biden’s watch, and many will receive U.S. citizenship. And because new citizens often do not vote, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are investing significant resources to encourage their participation.
One NGO, the NALEO Educational Fund, promotes “full Latino participation in the American political process.” This is one of many entities helping new citizens become voters. The nonprofit even created a hotline that helps newly naturalized Latinos register to vote, navigate mail-in ballots, and locate the nearest polling station.
While the organization purports to be nonpartisan, over the past two decades it has received over $10 million in funding from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, over $2 million from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, and over $1 million from George Soros-funded Open Society Foundations. All three foundations have a long history of fueling left-wing causes and funding Democrat politicians.
Additionally, a New York Times report offered this anecdote: after the swearing-in ceremony for new citizens, a League of Women Voters (LWV) representative distributed voter registration forms. LWV claims to be nonpartisan, but its website confirms the group’s support for left-wing policy priorities such as abortion and climate change.
While the Biden administration has been opening doors for illegal migrants, NGOs that are either explicitly left-wing or that receive funding from left-wing donors are pushing new migrants to immediately become voters.
Why it matters
For years, Republicans were dismissed as conspiracy theorists and even racists for suggesting that Democrats are allowing mass illegal migration so that they can import new Democrat voters. Now, it’s happening overtly.
As federal courts rapidly naturalize new U.S. citizens, many of whom may feel gratitude toward the government that granted them citizenship, Democrats could see an appreciable increase in support on Nov. 5.
Millions of new voters mean that Americans' voting power is significantly weakened. District by district, reliably red states can be expected to become reliably blue.
Republicans are largely powerless to address the issue, thus placing any potential remedy on Donald Trump’s shoulders should he retake the White House and institute mass deportations.
