🔎 WHAT WE'RE WATCHING

🚨 The Senate confirmed Kash Patel as FBI director. Longtime Trump ally Kash Patel has officially been confirmed as FBI director by a vote of 51-49, with GOP Senators Susan Collins (ME) and Lisa Murkowski (AK) voting no. In an online statement, Patel asserted, “To those who seek to harm Americans — consider this your warning. We will hunt you down in every corner of this planet.”

❗️ Trump shocked the Senate GOP with House budget endorsement. President Trump publicly backed the House Republicans' budget plan, advocating for ”one big, beautiful bill,” leaving Senate Republicans surprised and scrambling. Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) admitted he “did not see that one coming,” as Trump’s endorsement upended their two-bill strategy and sent them back to the drawing board.

The Senate passed a budget, setting the stage for the House: The Senate passed its "skinny" budget after an all-night marathon vote. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) is now facing internal problems, with some Republicans concerned about potential Medicaid cuts and tax changes, while others hope for compromise with the Senate's plan.

🔙 House Republicans move to roll back Biden-era regulations. House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA) is leading efforts to repeal 10 Biden-era regulations, focusing on rules that impact industries like energy and digital finance. These include the California Clean Air Act waiver and new energy conservation standards for appliances, which Republicans argue are driving up costs for consumers and complicating the regulatory landscape.

🦅 THE EXECUTIVE
  • A federal judge ordered Trump officials to follow his previous ruling, lifting the freeze on most foreign aid and restoring it to global programs.

  • President Trump is expected to sign more executive orders this afternoon.

  • VP JD Vance spoke at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) where he addressed immigration, abortion, and offered an optimistic vision to young Americans.

Trump is fighting to end birthright citizenship. Let’s look at the history.

What’s happening

President Donald Trump’s birthright citizenship order, which revokes citizenship for the children of illegal migrants, is working its way through the courts.

Birthright citizenship is practically non-existent in the “old world” of Eurasia and Africa. But it’s effectively the default in the “new world” of the Americas, a change due to the nature of the two continents, with new masses of immigrants pouring into North, Central, and South America over hundreds of years…
