What happened to Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens?
Q: What, or who, has caused the position shift of Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens? — David H.
A: I can’t read their minds. But a pattern is hard to miss. Both Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens present their recent turn toward Israel demonization, historical revisionism, conspiracy theories, and antisemitic tropes as a search for truth. Their rhetoric is far from it.
Take one of their central assertions — that Israel severely oppresses Christians, even more than surrounding Muslim countries (false). Tucker often frames his arguments in the language of foreign-policy realism, suggesting that Israel endangers American soldiers (false), that US–Israel cooperation yields little benefit (false), or that countries like Qatar share more civilizational affinity with the Christian West than Israel does (false).
What drives the shift is money, attention, and grievance. Tucker has long been fixated on ratings; Candace has built her brand on controversy. Anti-Israel conspiracies, historical inversion, and the scapegoating of Jews are currently fashionable (and profitable).
Tucker’s has been cozying up rhetorically and financially with ultra-Islamist Qatar. Erika Kirk publicly urged Candace to stop monetizing conspiracy theories about Charlie’s death. And on top of it, both are directing their personal and political frustrations toward Israel and the Jews.
