FBI Trump Raid Came Straight From the Top

Attorney General Merrick Garland gave a press conference, and The Washington Post received an anonymous tip.

This raid goes all the way to the top. During his five-minute press conference, AG Garland announced that he personally approved the raid on Donald Trump’s home in Mar-a-Lago. Garland is as high as it gets short of President Joe Biden, showing the gravity of the FBI’s decision to raid the home of a political opponent and former president.

The narrative revolves around “nuclear” documents. Anonymous sources told The Washington Post that the FBI was looking for classified nuclear weapon documents that foreign nations could target.

There is reason to doubt this narrative.

• First, the sources are anonymous. During the Trump campaign, the media ran with countless stories credited to anonymous sources, which were either debunked or had no credibility to back them up.

• Second, the story is hard to believe. As some commentators have pointed out, it’s unlikely that the FBI would have waited over a year and a half to get these documents if they were as sensitive as nuclear weapon information.

Trump wants the immediate release of the search warrant. “Not only will I not oppose the release of documents related to the unAmerican, unwarranted, and unnecessary raid and break-in of my home in Palm Beach, Florida, Mar-a-Lago, I am going a step further by ENCOURAGING the immediate release of those documents,” Trump posted on Truth Social.

Big picture: A lot is going on in this story. By the order of Biden’s attorney general, the FBI raided the home of former President Trump, who is expected to run again in 2024. Besides untrustworthy media leaks, the federal government isn’t saying much about the Bureau’s actions.
