WHAT WE'RE WATCHING

1. 🇮🇪 Ireland erupts over migrant assault. Irish police arrested 23 people following violent protests outside a hotel housing migrants. The clashes came after reports that a 10-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by an African migrant under a deportation order. Ireland currently spends €1 billion yearly to house migrants amid a national housing crisis.

2. 🇩🇪 Germany reports nearly 3M migrant crimes. Police data show migrants have committed upwards of 2.8 million crimes since Former Chancellor Angela Merkel’s 2015 open border policy. Migrants make up one-third of violent offenses despite being one-fifth of the population.

3. 🇷🇺 Trump’s sanctions force Europe off Russian oil. President Trump imposed sanctions on major oil producers Lukoil and Rosneft, forcing Europe to cut its reliance on Russian oil — a move many EU nations have struggled to achieve on their own.

4. 🇯🇵 Japan’s new leader shifts the country right. Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae plans to expand defense ties with the US, raise military spending, and cut taxes. She is expected to meet President Trump next week to discuss trade and security, signaling a sharp conservative turn in Tokyo.
