States joining Florida’s lead: Ohio, Texas, Georgia, and Alabama are all making significant strides in passing versions of Florida’s H.B. 1557 bill. Though different, the bills prohibit teachers from teaching LGBTQ+ ideology to young children.
Ohio’s bill tackles race, too: Besides prohibiting classroom discussion about sexual orientation, Ohio is also trying to remove divisive progressive concepts like racial guilt and critical race theory from the classroom.
Related: Alabama lawmakers have passed a bill that would criminalize healthcare providers offering gender-affirming care to transgender youth, described as the first legislation of its kind in the US.
