🔴 Redshift: Elon's America Party
Also, Paramount settles with Trump

WHAT WE'RE WATCHING

🇺🇸 Elon Musk launches the America Party. Tech billionaire Elon Musk announced the creation of a new political party on X just one day after President Trump signed his $3.3 trillion Big, Beautiful Bill into law. Musk called the move a pushback against what he described as waste and graft in America’s two-party system, targeting a few congressional seats to create a powerful swing bloc. While third-party candidates often struggle to win elections, Musk warns that the reckless spending of both parties threatens the country’s future.
💰 Paramount paid Trump a $16 million settlement. Paramount Global agreed to pay $16 million to settle a lawsuit filed by Donald Trump over a 60 Minutes interview with Kamala Harris that he claimed constituted election interference. The settlement does not include an apology and specifies that funds will go toward legal fees and Trump's future presidential library. Because CBS didn’t admit any wrongdoing, it’s likely settling to avoid a clash with the Trump administration while Paramount pushes its huge merger with Skydance.
👩💼 Trump asked Candace Owens to drop Macron rumor. Candace Owens revealed that President Trump called her to stop pushing the conspiracy theory that Brigitte Macron is a man, a request made on behalf of French President Emmanuel Macron. Trump reportedly explained that Macron pulled him aside during a White House visit, concerned the claims were affecting his wife. President Trump told Candace that he recently met with the Macrons and that he was sure Brigitte was a woman.
🗳️ Democrats prepare "Project 2029" agenda. Former Democratic speechwriter Andrei Cherny is organizing a Democratic version of the conservative Project 2025, aiming to create a ready-made agenda for the next Democratic presidential nominee. Cherny's group plans to release quarterly installments through his publication "Democracy: A Journal of Ideas" over the next two years. The effort acknowledges that running against Trump's ideas wasn't enough in 2024. Democrats now recognize they need a defined, positive agenda rather than just opposition.
