WHAT WE'RE WATCHING

👈 Democrats believe Biden could drop out as soon as this weekend. Currently self-isolating with COVID-19, President Biden's potential withdrawal from the race is not a matter of if, but when, according to high-level Democratic discussions. Despite mounting pressure from lawmakers, the media, and donors, President Biden remains steadfast in his decision to stay in the race.

🔫 An emotional Trump recounted his assassination attempt. Donald Trump opened his hour-and-a-half-long RNC acceptance speech by retelling the evening of July 13 from his own perspective. He told the crowd in a more vulnerable tone, “I will tell you exactly what happened, and you’ll never hear it from me a second time because it’s actually too painful to tell.”

🎤 America was introduced to vice presidential pick J.D. Vance. The 39-year-old Ohio Senator was the RNC’s headline speaker on Wednesday night and was surrounded by important figures in his life, including his wife Usha, his mother, and made a splash by speaking about his Mamaw. Though a populist himself, Vance offered a truce with more conventional Republicans in the name of party unity.

💸 RFK Jr.’s campaign is plateauing and nearly bankrupt. Federal campaign records show that Kennedy’s running mate, Nicole Shanahan, donated $10 million to the campaign in June, preventing it from sinking $3.5 million into debt. After polling in the low double digits for nearly a year, he is now at around 8.5 percent and losing momentum.

💰 Elon Musk will spend tens of millions each month to elect Trump. The world’s richest man announced that he is going to donate $45 million every month to the pro-Trump America PAC. Musk is just one of the increasing number of tech leaders openly supporting Donald Trump for president.
