Spotify's Partisan Censorship

Spotify As Arbiter Of Truth

In a 2018 policy update, Spotify distanced itself from being the "judge and jury" in regards to moderating songs and podcasts. That is exactly the role they took.

1. Spotify removed over 40 episodes of The Joe Rogan Experience podcast. The removed episodes contain controversial guests or controversial topics. Episodes with Milo Yiannopoulos, Alex Jones, and Gavin McInnes were removed.

2. Spotify removes songs that have anti-lockdown lyrics. The Stone Roses frontman, Ian Brown, had his anti-lockdown song removed from the service. The song remains on Apple Music*.

3. The Bannon's War Room podcast was delisted from Spotify. The podcast is run by former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon. The podcast remains on Apple music*.

4. Alex Jones's podcast was delisted from Spotify because of "hate speech". Apple, Facebook, and YouTube also delisted Jones.

Censoring Conservativism, Pushing Leftism

Spotify is not shy about politics. It favors and promotes liberal/far-left movements while censoring opposing conservative values.

1. Spotify deleted the song Safe Spaces by Bryson Gray and Patriot J. The song contains lyrics criticizing Fauci, Biden, social justice warriors, and LGBTQ+ ideology. Spotify said the song was "hate speech". The song remains on Apple Music*.

2. Spotify removed all PragerU advertising from its platform. They said the content doesn't align with their policies.

3. Spotify created segregated playlists (all-black artists) and promoted Black Lives Matter through its logo, playlists, and promoted content. They also included "an 8-minute, 46-second track of silence as a solemn acknowledgment for the length of time that George Floyd was suffocated" into political playlists.

4. For Pride month, Spotify was an activist for the 'LGBTQIA+' community. Spotify created a global campaign to promote those ideologies.

*It's important to note that Apple has its own issues with partisan censorship. Apple colluded with Amazon to remove Parler (a social media platform designed to provide Americans with free speech) from their app store.

The Double Standard

Spotify censorship is politically motivated as shown which content they remove and which content they don't.

Spotify censors conservative artists like Bryson Gray, but won't remove artists like:

1. R. Kelley, who has been accused of sexual abuse countless times, often with underage girls.

2. Cardi B, who confessed to drugging and robbing men when she was a stripper.

3. Chris Brown, who has a history of violence towards women.

4. XXXTentacion, who has a history of violence towards women.

5. John Lennon, who has a history of violence towards women.

6. Tyler the Creator, who had anti-LGBT messaging in old songs.

7. Tekashi 6ix9ine, who pleaded guilty to uploaded a video of a 13-year-old girl engaging in a sex act.

8. Tay-K, who glorifies violence and crime.

9. Kodak Black, who was charged with multiple sexual assaults and glorifies violence and crime.

10. All other rappers who glorify gang violence, drug usage, and misogyny.

This is not advocacy to remove the aforementioned artists. This is to show that Spotify doesn't censor problematic artists or songs. They censor the politically problematic ones.
