What Worries Steve Bannon?
America’s decline, the China threat, the fading working class, and Big Tech overlords.

What’s happening
MAGA media personality and populist firebrand Steve Bannon recently discussed his past successes, future ambitions, and biggest worries for America's future amid his recent media blitz.
Bannon was CEO of the Trump campaign in 2016 and also served in the White House as chief strategist for the first seven months of Trump’s first term. Despite not holding a formal position in the Trump orbit, Bannon still communicates with the president to this day.
Presently, Bannon hosts the Steve Bannon's War Room podcast — “a platform for the grassroots of the populist nationalist movement” which regularly hosts discussions with key political and cultural figures, capturing the viewership of Trump and his close allies, amassing millions of downloads in the process.
Bannon, similarly to Trump, is an ideological outsider of the old Republican Party. They have both been Democrats in the past. Trump realizes the power Bannon has with a critical sector of his electoral base in the new Republican coalition that delivered him a historic victory in November.
The oligarch class
Bannon argues that tech companies — particularly platforms like Google, Facebook, and X that impact media consumption — have become one with political and corporate elites. The oligarchs and billionaire leaders have, in his view, hijacked the populist movement on the Right that Steve Bannon was a key architect of — and the only reason they are moving toward Trump and conservatives, according to Bannon, is because that is where the political energy is.
