It’s not (just) because of inflation.

A chart from the Financial Times is currently circulating, which attempts to argue that incumbent governments are losing around the West:

The chart is somewhat misleading — far more than seven developed countries had elections this year, and there were well over ten in Europe alone — but it is accurate to say that incumbent Western governments have had a rough time. Ruling parties lost elections or support in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Lithuania, Estonia, Ireland, the United States, and elsewhere.
