James Fishback, a 31-year-old investment executive with no prior political experience, is mounting a long-shot Republican primary challenge for Florida governor against frontrunner Byron Donalds.

Fishback has become increasingly popular online and has drawn national attention for his inflammatory rhetoric, his praise of far-right commentator Nick Fuentes’ movement, whose followers are called “groypers,” and a series of controversies, including allegations of a past relationship with a minor. His campaign has had a dismal fundraising start, reporting just $950 raised in its first five weeks.
