Biden’s Latest LGBT Rule Threatens Religious Foster Parents

The Biden administration injects LGBT issues into laws that have nothing to do with them.

What’s happening: “LGBTQI+” foster children must only be kept in foster homes that affirm their stated identities, per a proposed regulation from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

What that means: “Efforts to change or suppress a child's sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression” are considered “abuse” under the rule. Facilities deemed guilty of this would be ineligible for hosting these children and could potentially lose children already in their care. The HHS says it will consider religious objections “on a case-by-case basis.”

Why it matters: The HHS aims to enforce the rule using sections of the Social Security Act that do not mention LGBT issues. This reflects a broader strategy by President Joe Biden to create policies never approved by Congress based on modern ideology. In this case, his administration would create barriers for faith-based organizations that contribute greatly to the foster care system.

In schools: The Biden administration is also finalizing rules that would impose LGBT ideology on schools regarding bathroom access, preferred pronouns, and sports. Each rule relies on the claim that “sex discrimination” in federal law somehow refers to sexual preferences and “gender identity.”

Pushback: Tennessee’s attorney general said he will sue if the HHS rule is implemented as-is, and GOP representatives introduced a bill to nullify it. Biden’s proposed school policies have already been challenged in court.
