🏛️ Capitol Reset: RFK Jr. Tackles Vaccine Corruption
Also, Israel commences Iran strikes

WHAT WE'RE WATCHING

💥 Israel delivered a decapitation strike on Iran. The chief of staff of Iran’s military and the commander of the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) were both killed, along with the country’s top nuclear scientists. Israel also destroyed many of Iran’s major nuclear sites, though Iran claims the damage is “surface level.” It is unclear if President Donald Trump approved of the strike ahead of time. Currently, Iran’s counter-response has been limited to 100 drones, all of which were shot down by American, British, and Israeli jets.
😰 Republicans might miss their July 4 deadline for the Beautiful Bill. The Trump administration is adamant about final passage by Independence Day. But multiple GOP senators, including Sens. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and John Curtis (R-UT), have expressed doubt at that timeline, with Cruz saying it might take an extra month. Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) swore off making changes to President Trump’s biggest priorities, like no taxes on tips and overtime pay.
💸 Josh Hawley wants to raise the wage. Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) introduced a bill to raise the federal minimum wage to $15, starting the following January after it is enacted. The bill would tie further increases to inflation. It faces long odds in the Senate, where most Republicans likely oppose it, and marks a departure from traditional conservative economic policy, as a $15 minimum wage has been championed by progressives.
🏦 Scott Bessent might be headed to the Fed. President Donald Trump is reportedly considering naming his Treasury secretary to head the Federal Reserve. The term of the current chairman, Jay Powell, expires next May. Though Trump appointed Powell back in 2017, he will likely not re-appoint him, as he has been disappointed with Powell’s slow rate cuts.
