_WHAT’S HAPPENING_

Following the assassination of Charlie Kirk, Christians across the country are reporting a surge of faith.

Bible sales and church attendance have reportedly increased over the past month, leading many to now speak of the “Charlie Kirk Effect” — a renewed cultural confidence that could reshape both American Christianity and the American Right.

Definitely. Never in my life time, nor I suspect, in the past 100 yrs has the top four most powerful people in the world, Pres, VP, Sec of State and Speaker of the House all expressed their faith in Christ and the need for America to turn to God.

Regardless of what you call it (“revival” or “awakening”), the Word of God was preached to millions of people at a moment when they were receptive. God’s Word will accomplish His purposes.

Another aspect of American society swinging back from leftist, secular ideals. I'll call it returning to SANITY!! Unfortunately, far too many seem Far too "GONE".

It has, to a degree. I even had a family member commit their life to Christ as a result of the stances on Christianity that Charlie Kirk took. I hope this turns into another Great Awakening that happened in the early years of the American experiment. We need strong preachers such as: Jonathan Edwards, George Whitefield and "Gilbert Tennant to step forward and call for national repentance and strongly preach the Word of God.

Charlie's faith was a central element of his personna. He viewed all persons as "children of God" regardless of the church or religious faith they may have practiced. Charlie simply reminded those with whom he spoke and those who listened that we all share this world together. And it is in our collective best interest to look for the good within each other. He often defined the "good" using both scripture and language from both the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights. What I think his passing has created is an awareness of the need for a personal moral foundation upon which to build a meaningful life. A foundation that can only begin in religious teachings, whether in the King James or the Vulgate Bible or the Jewish Torah. John Donne, the Scottish poet said: "No man is an island". Charlie reminded us of that and suggested ways and means to connect, one with the other, through faith.

I concur with being hopeful that the movement will be sustained for the long haul. And people don't fall for the feel good movement of Christianity, and focus more on true faith through the teaching and preaching of Christ!

It is too early to confirm that. Let us think like Jonathan Edwards thinking about that revival. We all do need to be praying for a great lasting result that does have repentance, and putting their Trust in Christ alone, and showing the true Fruit of the Spirit in their life. At least, they heard the true Gospel being proclaim. Remember that not all of them will have rich soil to be grounded in His Word that is the Whole Truth the Bible.

We will know if it is a true revival if it leads to deep and lasting repentance of sin

I do! Many have acknowledged that the country lost God in the '60s, we slid into an atheistic abyss. I think that ultimately led to Obama and Biden being elected. Charlie Kirk has almost single-handedly sparked a revival, and I think his impact on young people is key to its success.

That would be great. But, it could also be the latest popular “in thing.” Time will reveal real commitment verses a crowd surge.

I do hope so, but I really pray that it’s not a cultural phenomenon but real revival where we as Americans ask for repentance of our sinful ways.

Hopefully, so... with the model Charlie Kirk left us, we might have just witnessed a heaven-sent prophet. The last proclaimed American prophet was Edgar Cayce, who passed away in the mid-40's, but had a great effect on a rise in Christianity, as does Kirk today. We need that jolt every once in awhile. It's just sad that a valuable life was lost before people began believing

Yes, I agree. Yes, many people heard the gospel. But a person's heart is usually most receptive when they are in a very desperate situation. Charlie was really a strong believer along with some strong words of conviction and inspiration, just like John the baptist. Jesus Christ is truly our living hope.

We must, like Charlie, know HIS WORD, believe it, and live it.

One can hope and pray for a revival but only time will tell. It is up to followers of Christ to plant the seeds and water them. God will take care of the rest.

I think Christ brings hope to the lost. You have a generation that is being told not to go to college you won’t get a job. You can’t afford a house. Society is in shambles. Every major city is fraught with crime. The gospel brings hope

In some sectors. I was part of a revival of the 1970’s that has lasted for many of my generation. I think this current wave is a revival of the younger generation and God finishes what He begins. Those affected by faith and commitment to Jesus will stick. For some it won’t change their hearts because it isn’t mixed with true faith. Every life that is truly changed will benefit the nation and world.

We definitely need one, so I hope so. Having very recently moved from Chicago area to NW Arkansas, it is amazing the difference in church attendance here vs where I lived. Cars are lined up to get into the parking lot and the church is filled each week with all ages and lots of young families. At the church where I came from barely half the church was filled and mostly old people attended. This isn't from the Charlie Kirk effect, but it points out how parts of our country are in desperate need of such a revival and a return to faith based people, especially Christians.

I believe so. Many people will find that when you believe, you try to be your best self. When this happens life is better for you and everyone around you. I, for one, am so tired of the sad, depressing world. It doesn't have to be this way.

I am not a skeptic. I am a pastor. Most people in most churches do not know what it means to be a follower of Christ. So a revival, no. An awakening, yes. I hope and pray a revival follows.
