Former FBI Director James Comey was indicted by a federal grand jury on September 25 on two felony counts: making false statements to Congress and obstruction of justice.

The charges stem from his September 2020 testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee, where prosecutors allege he lied about authorizing FBI personnel to serve as anonymous sources for media reports regarding investigations into Donald Trump.

Comey will be arraigned on October 9 in Virginia, with each count carrying a maximum penalty of five years in prison.
