🛑 Trump admin. freezes Minnesota childcare funds. The Trump administration halted all federal childcare payments to Minnesota following serious allegations that millions in taxpayer funds were funneled to fraudulent daycare centers. Federal officials also imposed new verification rules to receive funds and ordered audits as investigators assess the scope of the fraud.
🏘️ Foreign-born renters drive housing surge. A new Housing and Urban Development analysis found that 67 percent of the increase in rental demand between 2022 and 2024 came from foreign-born residents, driving housing costs to record highs. Analysts warn that unchecked immigration is distorting the market because housing supply cannot keep up with demand.
📡 US embassies told to track migrant crimes. The Trump administration directed embassies across the Western Hemisphere to document human rights abuses tied to mass migration. The move pressures foreign governments to tighten their borders and expose trafficking and forced labor linked to migration networks.
💸 Nashville shooter used student aid for guns. Newly released FBI records show Covenant School shooter Audrey Hale used federal student grant money to buy firearms used in the 2023 attack that killed six. Hale’s parents told police she was unemployed but qualified for Pell Grants as a student.
