Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) released a letter to Republican leadership outlining 10 policy demands to "rein in ICE" as Congress faces a Feb. 13 deadline to fund the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
The standoff follows two fatal shootings of American citizens by federal agents in Minneapolis last month, which Democrats say justify sweeping reforms. Republicans have shown little appetite for most of the proposed changes, raising the likelihood of another partial government shutdown.
