The Trump administration has launched a comprehensive federal crackdown on Somali fraud schemes across multiple agencies. The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and others are now involved in uncovering the full extent of the fraud, which began in Minnesota and is now spreading across the nation.
Federal prosecutors estimate that $9 billion was stolen from social programs linked to the Somali population in Minnesota alone.
