Europe Attacks Elon Musk For Free Speech
Some are calling for the US to retaliate if the bloc attacks X.

The European Union is preparing to slap Elon Musk’s social media platform X with a record-breaking fine — possibly exceeding $1 billion — under its sweeping Digital Services Act. EU regulators claim that X failed to comply with censorship demands and transparency obligations. Musk and Trump administration officials have slammed the EU for their “authoritarian” crackdown on free speech.
The penalty comes amid heightened tensions between Europe and the US as President Donald Trump imposed steep tariffs on the bloc. Though he has since paused the tariffs, contentious negotiations are still ongoing.
