President Donald Trump and Secretary of War Pete Hegseth addressed more than 800 top generals and admirals at Marine Corps Base Quantico in Virginia on Tuesday, in an unprecedented gathering of senior military leadership.

This meeting was announced weeks ago and was shrouded in mystery, coming as the US ramps up military pressure around the globe, including in South America and the Middle East.

It is refreshing to see our military return to its primary mission including high standards for military readiness and physical fitness. We should be ready because there are a lot of "hot spots" in our world.

Conflict has and will be inevitable. Strong defense is a strong offensive capability.

As Jesus said, "There will be wars and rumors of wars until I come again." For those who think personal defense is counter to real life, consider Jesus’ admonition long before guns were invented, in Matthew 12:29 and Mark 9:40: “How can anyone enter a strong man’s house and make off with his property unless he first ties him securely? Only then can he rob his house. He who is not with me is against me…” Jesus warned us to expect the same as evil cannot abide the good works of others, including the President and the patriotic MAGA.

Seems more like a WAY overdue course correction! What a mess has been made of the U.S. military, in which DEI also included women. They've been given jobs they were unable to fulfill on their own, including a first-person testimony of a female who could drive the vehicle but was unable to close its doors!

The Officers call at Quantico was not as much to prepare for war as to prevent it. There was no subterfuge, it was an open meeting televised for all the world to see. It was the ultimate FAFO to other world leaders that the USA was taking our freedoms seriously and that we are going to be unbeatable if push comes to shove!

I think that the Biden administration actively diminished our military might, stores of arms, and our oil reserves for nefarious reasons and Trump had better be careful not to over play his hand. Our enemies have a plan of their own, and as has been proven by the actions of General Milley they have allies in our military hierarchy.

I don’t think it hints at one, but is a wake-up call to military leadership that they should reverse the complacency trend and ensure that we are the best…and feared…military on the planet

I'm amazed at the apparent level of pushback from senior leadership and I suspect it is due in part to SoW's invitation to resign if they disagree. I also suspect that the reason for the face-to-face meeting is because of a lack of support for him. So the best way to drive home a point is to look them in the eye to ensure they understand. We have potential conflicts in our future and the state of our military poses questions about our capabilities since the combat mentality has been missing for some time.

Not necessarily. I think it speaks to the sorry state of our Military's leadership, and what happens when the military is more vested in social programs then their job, wiht soldiers, not just fancy new equipment, being properly prepared for a conflict. I thought the comment by the Senator who objected was enlightening for their clueless attitude about the military.

Don't forget Taiwan too... conflict feels imminent, and 100% we need to be prepared as the most lethal force on the planet which we hope never to need to be. 🙏

It is a multi-purpose meeting with several obvious objectives. The short term confusion between the two sexes is put to rest. Enlisted ranks will not be commanded by senior officers who can not maintain themselves in healthy physical and mental shape. All branches of the armed services must be better prepared for battle whether near term or long term.

I'm happy to see the military return to a position of strength in the world. There are substantial hotspots that I fear will turn into larger conflicts with Russia and China. Strengthening our military is the only way to protect the US AND provide global stability. I would prefer not to be involved in global conflicts but there are times where we don't have a choice.

Not necessarily imminent..... but it will happen. We've never had a century, and very few decades without a war.

Once the infection is flushed out, the USA military will be the cream, that rises to the top. May GOD continue to bless the USA.

Barring a MORON at the top, it Isn't up to us when conflict happens, But we MUST be ready When it does! Russia is pushing buttons and eventually one will go BPPM!

Absolutely, president Trump is getting his ducks in a row! I can feel the insanity from the left increasing hourly! Like a pressure cooker left on the fire to long!

I think it hinted that if one were to come, we had better be ready and at the very top of our game.

Avatar

Possibly. But having a combat ready military is a sign of strength and a bit if a deterrent to those that would want to inflict harm on us. And having fit and combat ready personal from top to bottom is a sign of strength! As a veteran I think it’s great!

I view Hegseth's words as a warning to the leadership: "Shape up or Ship out." The men they lead must admire and respect them them or there will be problems in the rank and file.

It seems confusing to me. President Trump, correctly supporting our great military and the Defense Secretary criticizing it and beleaguering the importance of women in our military. I’m sorry, but that’s not how to build a strong team and allegiance. It has to have a negative and confusing impact on the morale of our great military. Given the threat of a communist plot in various parts of the world, as civilians, we to support our military and show respect for all they do.

The defense secretary is a messenger, just like all the other cabinet members. Perhaps trump has not publicly said it but perhaps he has privately to the defense secretary, who has now made it public for the president. That message is not necessarily "criticizing" as much as it is letting the military what the rules are - as the old saying says: "drawing a line in the sand"

With the turmoil the world is in, if the US is going to be the leader and strongest, then our military MUST be at peak leaver in all ranks.

May I reply by asking, do you wait to buy insurance until after your vehicle is involved in a wreck? That is insanity. I pray we have time to build, replace and train to be ready for what is going to be required.
