President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Monday establishing the Task Force to Eliminate Fraud, a federal body aimed at combating abuse in government benefit programs. Vice President JD Vance will chair the task force, with Federal Trade Commission Chairman Andrew Ferguson serving as vice chair and White House adviser Stephen Miller as senior adviser.

The initiative targets fraud in federally funded programs administered by states, including Medicaid, food assistance, housing benefits, and childcare subsidies. Trump cited Minnesota as a primary example, where federal prosecutors estimate billions in Medicaid fraud, including nearly $250 million stolen from a program meant to feed children.
