_WHAT’S HAPPENING_
Joe Kent, the former director of the National Counterterrorism Center, resigned Tuesday in protest of President Trump's military operation against Iran. In a lengthy resignation letter posted to X, Kent claimed Iran "posed no imminent threat to our nation" and accused the administration of starting the war "due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby."
The resignation triggered speculation about fractures within the MAGA coalition. But Kent's departure reveals more about his own contradictions than any actual breakdown in Trump’s administration. His claims directly contradict his own past statements on Iran, and he is now under FBI investigation for allegedly leaking classified information.
