Kari Lake Files New Lawsuit To Rectify Arizona Governor Race

Recap: Republican candidate for Arizona governor Kari Lake lost to Democrat Katie Hobbs by just over 17,000 votes, or less than 1 percentage point. The election was filled with irregularities, with the state's most populous county experiencing widespread voting machine malfunctioning.

What's happening: Kari Lake has refused to concede and is now filing a new lawsuit to remove the certified results and declare that she is the winner under the claim that “hundreds of thousands of illegal ballots infected the election in Maricopa County.” Her case rests on witness and whistleblower testimony. Her previous lawsuit in November was dismissed for being "frivolous.”

Where's this heading? It's unclear. Though the Arizona elections consisted of enough voting irregularities to question the results, Lake's difficulties are similar to the challenges Donald Trump’s campaign faced in 2020. Few are confident that she'll be able to rectify the election results.
