I survived that 60's-70's era, earned a BS and MS at a SUNY college and was totally unaffected by the BP and WU, but I'm also caucasion. I remember hearing news reports concerning violent behavior of both groups and there were the assassinations of the Kennedy brothers and Dr. MLK, probably linked to hate-groups at that time, but the hatred of police and urban-center riots appear to be much more radical, mostly centered on The Leftists as perpetrators. I've watched Trump rise to power right from the get-go and listened to all the hate rhetoric against him, as the party in power - Obama - attempted to save their happy, protected lives against a presidential candidate that did not belong to their club. Not a politician, but a billionaire businessman, he had my vote for those very reasons. He knew how to run a business - America - and would help us prosper, which he tried to do during his first term. That was so successful that the opposing party kept him from a 2nd term.

It’s the leftovers from the 60s , the indoctrinated students and the BLM, Antifa crowd, fueled by the legacy media and Democrat politicians. It’s one thing when groups protest and act irresponsibly, but it’s entirely another when our so called elected representatives do the same. Lets not forget Soros funding. Let’s hope this administration can stop the funding mechanism and see how many of these paid leftists stick to their unhinged ideologies!!

Having lived through the '60s and '70s, I can say it was a scary time for the country. Multiple assassinations and violent riots became all to normal. So, I can't say today's radical behavior is worse, but it's certainly different. The media and indeed much of the democratic leadership are openly encouraging violence. In November, both were humble and admitted their rhetoric was wrong, but call it muscle memory - they quickly reverted back to the same rhetoric and even doubled down. And violence is being aimed at several different issues - immigration, transgenderism, religion and, of course, politics. This is scary on several different levels.

There is one big differences between now and then: Then there was no internet to facilitate the grooming and indoctrination of the populous. Now the reach of the evil Powers That Be is limitless.

It’s very similar. Both are lead by extreme activists who are fighting against established norms. But now there seems to be more multiple shootings, more attacks against government, and deeper, unreasonable hatred.

It’s worse and more dangerous. The big difference is the direct support and instigation by senior leadership in the Democrat Party. Senators and Representatives within Congress are demonizing over half the Country and their colleagues in Congress with unprecedented rhetoric (Nazi, Fascist, Gestapo, etc.). This is also Democratic Governors and state legislators across the Country. They ignore and encourage violation of federal law. They actively subvert the Supremacy Clause of the Constitution. Their jack booted thugs (BLM and ANTIFA) have actively pursued violence against public and Federal properties across the Country. It should not be lost on anyone how the violence surges when Democrats are out of power.

Not YET, but it'll only get worse as long as the Left keeps vilifying Any and All who don't adhere to their agenda - Straight out of Fundamental Muslim tenets.

I was a young adult during the political violence of the 60’s and 70’s and although it was traumatic to know it was happening it was not scary for most people. People grieved over it but it seemed far away. With social media, everything that happens is immediately seen. Culturally the issues are “in your face” with right and wrong not agreed upon in the majority. Fear is a factor now for every-day people going to public places.

If its not, it wont be long. They better get a handle on it and eradicate it swiftly. Need to show them in a BIG way that it will not be tolerated. Cant let them turn America into another crap hole country. We have kids and grandkids we love dearly and they deserve to grow up in a decent society.

The left's leaders and the main stream media are winding up the base to commit more and more acts of terrorism ! Start holding the leaders guilty of shouting fire in a packed theater! This is no a freedom of speech issue!

Seems the 40’s and 50’s were mellow as the 80’s and 90’s seemed also. Certainly seems to have changed in the last 15 years, especially when Trump got involved in politics. Funny how everyone on both sides of the isle liked him before he did. Certainly some of the blame for all the unrest can be blamed on the mainstream media and the educational system. Both of which have changed dramatically over the last several decades. Main stream news seems to editorize everything rather than just doing a factual and unbiased report. Education seems to have just become a propaganda system and definitely doesn’t encourage love of country.

Two things make this different: the internet and 50 years of descending corruption in the universities and public schools.

I think this country is more divided than ever before. As Kate Devany stated in her comment, the internet is enabling the hate and divisiveness to spread more quickly and to more people. I'm not sure what the answer is to stop it other than prayer and less violence inducing statements by political leaders.

Definitely not the same. In the 60’s & 70’s we were objecting to going to a foreign land to kill people or be killed for reasons we could not understand. Today, they are attacking the fabric of society.

That of the '60s looked more like a Putsch; this is kept decentralized to be harder to combat. Going for the money is the wise call. No mistake, the leaders of this and their Pravda intend to murder and intimidate all normal Americans to get their revolution, which will make the French look like a minor family quarrel.

I agree but we also need to point out other atrocities such as the murder of the Democrat retired speaker in Minnesota. The killings at the Pittsburgh synagogue. Violence on either side is unacceptable. Hate, whether its bigotry, white supremacy, attacks on federal/state public, communistic individuals against US citizens, drug/cartel gangland violence cannot be tolerated in the US. We need to support our legal system and accept jury judgements.

Things have changed a lot in 40-50 years, especially since the Democrat Party, The Left, and the Medea have been joining forces and pressing and getting away with more and more every year, they are now much more emboldened.

Avatar

No, probably most/many activists involved are immigrants and illegal immigrants.

comparable but not as scary. Before there were agitators in the crowd but most protectors were there thinking their cause was right even if they were totally wrong. Today even the protectors are trained and paid for by Progressive terrorist organizations.
