The Trump administration announced earlier this week that the US government was taking a 10 percent stake in Intel, a major manufacturer of computer chips.
The move comes three years after former President Joe Biden signed the CHIPS Act, which awarded grants to chip makers to encourage manufacturing in the United States.
Trump’s arrangement caught many, including some in his own party, by surprise.
