The second round of Bolivia’s presidential and parliamentary elections won’t occur until October. But after the recent first round, one thing is already clear: Bolivians have soundly rejected the “Movement for Socialism” (MAS), a left-wing political party.
MAS has won every vote since 2006; now, however, their candidates have been locked out of the second round in a historic shift to the right.
This shift to the right does not end with Bolivia — in fact, socialism is being rejected across South America.
