Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) signed a proclamation on Tuesday designating the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and the Muslim Brotherhood as foreign terrorist organizations and transnational criminal organizations.
The first of its kind from any state, this declaration blocks both groups from purchasing land in Texas and subjects anyone affiliated with them to heightened state penalties.
