The Trump administration says it is making progress toward a potential agreement with Iran, offering a 15-point framework aimed at ending the war and permanently blocking Tehran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. President Trump has signaled that talks are underway through intermediaries and delayed planned strikes on Iranian energy infrastructure to allow diplomacy to proceed, with tomorrow as the deadline for reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran, however, rejected the US proposal as “excessive,” denied that meaningful negotiations are taking place, and insisted it will only agree to a ceasefire on its own terms. This comes as the president is telling his allies behind closed doors that he wants to wrap up the war within weeks.
