_WHAT’S HAPPENING_

The Department of Justice declared that the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission's (EEOC) disparate-impact guidelines are unconstitutional.

Disparate impact is a legal theory used by the Left to argue that a hiring practice is discriminatory if it results in significantly fewer minorities being hired than white applicants, even without evidence of intentional discrimination.

QUESTION: "Should employers hire based on any criteria other than merit?" ANALOGOUS QUESTION: Should I hire a brain surgeon for my surgery based on anything other than merit?

Hire based on skill that they can do, and not by skin color. If they can do the job rightly then they should get the job. In Manufacturing job that I had work with for 14 plus years. I see wrong type of people in the job, when they don’t care how they put things together. I didn’t like one person the way he/she said “It doesn’t matter. He/she kept doing that which I had to reject their product and fix it right. Why pay people that will not do the job right? I dealt with another person who is new in the department to putting things together and I corrected them, and they thank me to correct them. Skin color shouldn’t be the issue but how well they can do the job rightly. Now, I don’t work for Manufacturing job because they don’t care about Quality of the product. Now, I take care of animals for owners!

The answer is to provide equal quality education for all. It is not to place people in positions they are not prepared for, which benefits no one.

Absolutely NOT!!!! There are already too many stooges hired and their favorite byline when they cannot answer a simple question is: "I am just doing my job of what I was told". Yes, in other words being a stooge sucking off the payroll.

It's 2026, there is no reason for anyone not being able to obtain the schooling or training needed to apply for any job.

I believe employers should be allowed to hire on merit.

Obviously merit is a key component in determining an applicant's suitability for a job. However, I found that when hiring, it carries only about 50% of the weight. Equally important are work ethic, attitude, honestly, and ability to work with others. Race/color has absolutely nothing to do with it.

In an intelligent society, hiring decisions should not be based on color of skin or cultural background. When qualifications are within equal standards, diversity within the workforce might be considered valuable.

Unfortunately, this is no longer an ‘intelligent society.’ But I agree with you

This is a stupid question similar to “What is a woman?”. It’s time we reject these Commies’ nonsense and stop being nice about it.

Avatar

ABSOLUTELY NOT! The related qualifications of a job candidate should be at the top of the list for hire. Skin color and ethnicity should play NO PART in the process. DEI is just the newest form od affirmative action which SCOTUS ruled to be unlawful.

No, they are in business to succeed. They are not there to coddle any particular group.

Should employers hire based on any criteria other than merit? Yes. Any other criteria can lead to hiring unqualified people. Any other criteria is discriminating by assuming a certain group of people cannot possibly qualify for a job on merit alone.

Employers should be free to hire and fire as they see their business interests direct. The only exception would forbid forcing early retirement to get a younger or more recently educated workforce. Employers who don't follow their best business interests find their companies fall behind. Their best criterion is merit in hiring and job performance in advancement. There is the Parkinson's Law factor, that performers tend to be promoted to positions for which they have no talent or competence. There are naturally more Indians than Chiefs, as the saying goes.

Go work for Target! It’s all inexperienced DEI chiefs, half the age of Experienced Indians.

Only in special circumstances - a Catholic church only hiring Catholics or at least Christians, a Women's shelter only hiring women, etc.

Absolutely not! If a person cannot display that they are capable and qualified, they should not be hired, regardless of race or anything else.

Merit is the only metric that should be applied when hiring from a pool of qualified candidates. Funny how this used to be common sense not so long ago. But leave it to every other screwed up measure that started in the 60's going forward like Affirmative Action, compliments of President LBJ. There is no reason to have to put this in front of Judicial Court as it is based on pure common sense and practical reasonability. But this the lifeblood of the Lefty Liberal low-lives and degenerates out there who think they're entitled to jobs based on race, gender and pretty much anything but merit. It's time to rewrite the last 60 yrs. of b.s. policy and lawfare that has brought this country to the abysmal state we find ourselves in. That's the funny thing, the answer to all these problems we face are so simple to solve, and yet leave it to our piss poor leadership through these decades to over-complicate everything. Which begs the question, can you really screw it up this bad on accident??

No, only merit should be considered. Perhaps that will give motivations for getting our educational system up to par.

Hire based on competence in the skills the job requires. With regard to young people applying for jobs for the first time, hire based on school scores and likely ability to learn specific skills for the job in question. Students should be taught reading, writing and math and be able to show a basic competency in these skills at the end of each school year. Children should choose classes based on marketable skills. Companies should let high schools know what skills are needed in a particular job and offer job placement and future training for those who excel in these areas. There is nothing wrong with competition.

If they wanna continue to loose money!

I was injured on the job at Target because my merit ment nothing. A fresh college grad, that fit the DEI model and had zero warehouse experience, was promoted to a managerial position when she was hired. I spent years of my life training for a position in management, only to be handed a broom (seriously!) when a DEI rule injured my neck.

So I sued the pants off Target and won. So ya, if they wanna continue to loose money, go for it!
