⚓ US destroyed 16 Iranian navy ships over mine-laying concerns. The US military eliminated 16 Iranian mine-laying naval vessels in a preemptive strike after receiving intelligence about Iran's operational plans in the Strait of Hormuz. President Trump warned Iran of "military consequences" at a level "never seen before" if they deploy mines in the waterway.
🗣️ Ted Cruz called Tucker Carlson a "dangerous demagogue." At an antisemitism symposium in Washington, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) slammed conservative commentator Tucker Carlson as "the single most dangerous demagogue in this country," accusing him of spreading antisemitism on the Right. The feud escalated after Carlson called Cruz and others who trust Israeli intelligence "dumbos" last week.
🛢️ Oil prices swung wildly after White House correction. Oil prices plunged Tuesday when Energy Secretary Chris Wright claimed the Navy had escorted an oil tanker through the Strait of Hormuz, only for Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt to walk back the statement hours later. Crude oil dropped to $81 per barrel before rebounding to $91 after the correction, marking the biggest single-day percentage swing since 2022.
⚖️ Anthropic sued Trump admin over "supply chain risk" label. AI company Anthropic filed suit against the Trump administration, alleging an "unlawful campaign of retaliation" after being designated a supply chain risk over refusing to provide information that could allegedly be used for mass surveillance and autonomous weapons.
