New York City First Lady Rama Duwaji has come under fire after a series of revelations about her radical social media history and professional work. The 28-year-old illustrator, married to Mayor Zohran Mamdani, has been found to have liked over 70 Instagram posts celebrating Hamas' October 7, 2023, attack on Israel, including content referring to documented sexual violence as a "mass rape hoax."
The controversy deepened when reports emerged that Duwaji created artwork for a publication edited by Palestinian-American author Susan Abulhawa, who has referred to Israeli forces as "Jewish supremacist demons." Duwaji has since deactivated an old X account containing radical posts dating back to 2013.
