_WHAT’S HAPPENING_
The White House Religious Liberty Commission held its first public hearing on antisemitism on Monday, though it quickly descended into a fight over Christianity and Judaism.
What was expected to be a subdued gathering of testimony from Jewish Americans became contentious when commission member Carrie Prejean Boller, a Catholic conservative activist and former Miss California, challenged witnesses on the definition of antisemitism and defended right-wing commentators Candace Owens and Tucker Carlson from accusations of Jew-hatred.
Boller, who wore a pin combining the US and Palestinian flags, pushed back on testimony linking anti-Zionism with antisemitism and questioned whether opposition to Israel should be considered bigotry. The exchange has sparked calls from pro-Israel figures for her removal from the commission.
