Elon Musk's SpaceX and Tesla have confirmed plans to build Terafab, a semiconductor megafactory in Texas, that would become the largest building ever constructed.

The facility is projected to span 100 million square feet, more than five times the size of China's New Century Global Center, the current record holder at 18.9 million square feet.

Elon Musk never ceases to amaze me. The project, if successful (why wouldn't it be?) will solve many problems, not the least of which we would no longer depend on China to provide semi-conductors. That's a win!

Good location for Patriot self defense installation and very strong security, better than rent a cop. And additional secret measures. High value targets are not to be avoided as "eggs in one basket" but protected appropriately.

This is certainly one of his most business need inspired projects. It will fill a need for every American tech companies needs domestically and will practically eliminate dependency on chinese made chips.

Yes, & I'm glad it's privately funded. Tax breaks yes, but taxpayer funded, no. There will still be much tax revenue from this project. Thank you, Elon!

From the perspective of national security, I would say that Terafab is Elon's most important project for the reasons stated in "Our Take". Specifically, a chip manufacturing supply chain with no reliance on sources external to the United States.
