WHAT WE'RE WATCHING

🇪🇺 Trump scored a massive win in a trade deal with the EU. During a trip to Scotland over the weekend, President Donald Trump and EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen agreed to one of the largest trade deals ever. The deal includes a flat tariff of 15 percent on all EU goods exported to the US, with higher tariffs on aluminum and steel. The EU also agreed to buy $750 billion in American energy over the next three years. It will also see Europe drop all their tariffs.
🚨 Stephen Miller revealed Joe Biden let 450,000 unaccompanied children be released into the US. The number is significantly higher than the earlier estimate of 320,000. The Trump administration has also discovered that 90 percent of the addresses the Biden administration had for the children were “fake, false, or abandoned.” So far, the US government has only been able to relocate 13,000.
🇨🇳 American officials are starting trade talks with China today. A few months ago, America and China agreed to a mutual pause in what had been an escalating trade war. But that initial agreement comes to an end August 12th — necessitating more negotiations in order to avoid an all-out trade war. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is leading the American team, while the Chinese are represented by their vice premier. An agreement would likely not solve all trade issues but could prolong the pause.
📚 The Trump administration is targeting five schools for allowing boys into girls bathrooms. The Department of Education found five northern Virginia schools were violating Title IX — which bans sex-based discrimination in schools which receive federal funds — by allowing males who identify as females to use the women’s restroom. The schools have 10 days to comply. Failure to do so could result in Justice Department referrals and the loss of federal funding.
