_WHAT’S HAPPENING_

Hollywood spent the past decade preaching progressive politics. Movies were reengineered around identity. Award shows prioritized diversity over merit. Children’s content was rewritten to reflect left-wing LGBTQ ideology. And Seth Rogen—one of Hollywood’s loudest progressive voices—was all in, backing Black Lives Matter and mocking concerns about rising crime caused by progressive policies.

But in his new comedy series The Studio, actor and filmmaker Seth Rogen, takes direct aim at the absurdities of Hollywood’s diversity mandates and woke contradictions. One of the episodes centers on a fictional studio trying to make a movie while navigating DEI rules, racial dynamics, and ideological landmines.

_THE FACTS_

  • Rogen’s new show The Studio is about a fictional film studio. In one episode, they are trying to navigate Hollywood’s DEI madness.

  • Film executives debate whether casting the Kool-Aid Man as black is racist, or whether it’s racist not to cast a black actor.

  • A character argues the Kool-Aid Man’s wife can’t be Asian because, “Black people have a problem with it.”

  • The writers are told they can’t give a black character a non-black wife, which leaves them confused, wondering how that’s not regressive.

  • To solve the problem, the studio makes the cast all-black. Then non-black writers refuse to write, saying it’s not their place.

  • Trying to fix the issue, the team concludes the cast should reflect U.S. demographics, but realize that would include too many white characters and creates even more contradictions.

_INSIGHTS_

Leading up to the 2024 election, it was clear that the progressive, identity-obsessed era was coming to an end. Kamala Harris was floundering, Trump’s anti-woke message was gaining steam, and Americans—exhausted by the ideological overreach—rejected it at the ballot box in a landslide.

What followed was a quiet retreat. Major institutions, including corporations, universities, media, and Hollywood, began backing away. In Hollywood’s case, it seemingly came from a simple realization: the woke politics that once shaped American culture had lost.

Just a few years ago, an episode of a show like this would’ve sparked outrage and weeks of think pieces. Now, it was hardly noticed. Moreover, the show has been nominated for a slew of awards.

Seth Rogen’s The Studio is a signal that culture is shifting downstream of politics. The Studio is now Hollywood trying to save face, mocking the losing ideology it once mandated: a critical step in delegitimizing an ideology.

It's always about money, but maybe Rogen has actually 'listened to' the man (and women) on the street, who are tired of hearing Woke messages and having extreme lifestyles shoved down their throats. Disney's efforts were dismal, at best, inclusive ads are laughable and the whole movement needs to quietly disappear. Obama, almonst single-handedly created the movement with his ubiquitous, inane racial comments and my attitude is not being colored by the current hot water he has found himself in. I repeated my distaste of his obvious negligence of forethought following every black/white event that took place on his watch for eight lonnnng years, ad nauseum. I did not go out and burn buildings, but awaited the end of his term so that America could recover from his affect. But that couldn't happen, because he awakened a new national attitude that has been nothing but a detriment to our ability to respect one another, as we did before the 2008 election.

'ad nauseum' Love it! I'm borrowing that. (-:

I couldn't have said it better. Everyone needs to understand that the undoing of America rests squarely (not solely) on the shoulders of Barack Obama. The only point of disagreement I have is that I wish the whole thing to go away with an earth-shattering, thunder-like, and most importantly, UNDENIABLE crash.

“Wokeness” was always the antithesis of merit based, free thinking American values, and the Trump affect has definitely hastened its demise.

$$$$$$$$$$......And I'm soooo disappointed in Seth. Yet another "entertainer" I cannot morally support. He's on my blacklist with so many others; John Cusack, Jamie Lee Curtis, Sheryl Crow, Bruce Springsteen (I have vinyl records from the 70's I'm purging), Jack Black (goodbye 'Pick Of Destiny'), Snoop, David Crosby ('Judy Blue Eyes' have turned sour black), Eminem, Pearl Jam (damn I grew up with them), Paul McCartney.......OMFG I cannot keep this list up, it's disgusting me. So many more. Sharing their OPINIONS is not entertaining to me. I just cannot morally do it. Sad, so f'n sad. )-:

Yeah, the old rockers that are still alive and touring are trying to remain "Forever Young" by re-enacting what they see as the "youthful" rebellion they experienced in their youth. Their blithering progressiveness is not going to gain the young's dollars and it alienates those of us who are not still acting like 70 year-old hippies. I blame social media postings, somewhat, even though I am not on those platforms... but I can see where posting a photo of yourself at the nearest protest is a way to signal the facts that 1) You're still alive with "vigorous" fight against "the man" and 2) That means you are are more distance from the Grim Reaper. News Flash: Acting young does not make you young. They need to be the adults in the room.

Yes..BUT ( I'm 76 and grew up in Southern Calif in the 60's) ..the difference in the "old hippies", music lovers coming out of the "hootenany" era, naive, truly believed in free speech, free expression and 'peace and love'.(99% of us grew up a but later).also were friendly and we all discussed things. Usually on the library lawn at college...said hello, "peace not war" and were welcomed with handshakes at whatever party or concert was playing. Fights were extremely rare and no one wished ill of others. Boy, it has surely changed as the intolerance is now quasi-lethal.When I see burnt out 70y/o hippies I almost want to get my bongo drums and tie dye T shirt. Like many men who remind their grandkids of their HS football careers...the poor lost souls of "hippiedom" today still yearn for a return to a better time. Sorry ! Marxist-Progressivism and corporate/political greed ended it.

MONEY. When the money stopped, they woke UP. It was always the money, content was no concern. When people quit watching nature took it's course. JJW

Hollywierd has only ever and still is just concerned with the bottom line. The ever prevalent communistic wokies are still there, but are just waking to the fact that their views on how the rest of the world should be just aren't selling.

While there may be other reasons, money is always the driving force behind such change. I think even the most ardent supporters of woke ideology knew that it had gone too far, but the shift in what the public was willing to support equates to loss of profits, which forces the entertainment industry to admit there is no entertainment in wokeness. Ask CBS...

It's about money. Disney in particular has bombed with its DEI films. Watch them all slither back to what Americans want to spend their money watching.

This nothing new. Changing tactics does not equate to changing beliefs or ideals. To quote a great book: "The love of money is the root of all kinds of evil". 1 Timothy 6:10 ~ the Bible

Hollywood and the entertainment industry is just sick!! Look at all the entertainers addicted to drugs or have died from overdoses or suicide. They are out of touch with the majority of Americans and this show will not change that.

Good grief, does anyone really care what Seth thinks or Hollywood, or any other “luminary”? I, for one, do not!

I just think Hollywood realized the absurdity of forcing companies, teaching institutions, and entertainment entities to follow an unnatural formula of DEI and get back to showing what is funny and entertaining.

While I must admit I am glad to see more of Hollywood turning away from identity politics and general “wokeism”, it also serves to highlight the ideological fickleness and hypocrisy of the progressive left. The limousine liberals have always cared more about money and public perception of themselves rather than having (and standing by) actual ideals. They can only be counted on to tout the flavor of the week, which, fortunately, has finally come around more on the side of common sense.

I have gotten to where I refuse to watch entertainment that has an actor or actress that I find holds what I consider to be a reprehensible attitudes toward our culture and we the people. I do not mean acting in a role as that is part of their job. I mean announcing off set not acting or singing or whatever, but in a public venue and such. Mr. Seth Rogen is on that list as sadly are many in Hollywood are now. They have the freedom to express themselves BUT...They don't get my money or support if I can help it. Many have their names mentioned by others in these opinions. I do support and watch many actors and actresses that have NOT done as Mr. Rogen. IMHO they seem to have insulated themselves from the real world by their inner circle influences and have betrayed their base!
