Upward News is a daily email briefing and Morning Wire is a daily podcast from The Daily Wire, so this is a comparison of two formats as much as two outlets. Both cover the news from a conservative-leaning angle. We publish Upward News, so we stick to each outlet's own words, the raters' published scores and news reporting, and we show our own weak spots too.
Conservatism. Upward News: Written for conservatives; MBFC calls it a moderate conservative perspective. Morning Wire: Right-of-center (Daily Wire); MBFC places it on the conservative right.
Trump. Upward News: Generally favorable to Trump's policies, with some skeptical analysis (e.g. his Putin strategy). Morning Wire: Co-founder Ben Shapiro backed Trump in 2024; MBFC says coverage is not always favorable.
Israel. Upward News: Sympathetic to Israel; critical of anti-Israel activism. Morning Wire: Pro-Israel; split with Candace Owens after a feud that began over Israel (2024).
Woke politics. Upward News: Critical of DEI and campus ideology. Morning Wire: Opposes gender ideology; produced Matt Walsh's documentary What Is a Woman? (2022).
Pick Upward News if you want to read the day's biggest stories in about five minutes, free, with every fact sourced. Pick Morning Wire if you would rather listen to a daily show. Because one is an email and the other is audio, plenty of people use both.
