Both are daily politics newsletters, but Upward News is written for conservative readers and Tangle is nonpartisan. We publish Upward News, so we stick to each outlet's own words, the raters' published scores and news reporting, and we show our own weak spots too.
Conservatism. Upward News: Written for conservatives; MBFC calls it a moderate conservative perspective. Tangle: Not conservative; nonpartisan, presents left and right arguments.
Trump. Upward News: Generally favorable to Trump's policies, with some skeptical analysis (e.g. his Putin strategy). Tangle: No outlet position; presents both sides.
Israel. Upward News: Sympathetic to Israel; critical of anti-Israel activism. Tangle: No outlet position; founder wrote in 2025 that he "may just not be a Zionist at all".
Woke politics. Upward News: Critical of DEI and campus ideology. Tangle: Both-sides format; the founder's own views vary by issue.
Pick Upward News if you want a short, free briefing on the stories the mainstream media underplayed, every day of the week. Pick Tangle if you want the strongest arguments from both sides on one issue a day.
